Naturally, indoor wicker requires considerably less maintenance than its outdoor counterpart, but it'll still need the occasional dusting. Great tools to keep around for cleaning wicker include tooth brushes, vegetable brush, paint brush or similar implement.
If conditions are too dry, the wicker can dry out and become brittle. You can occasionally wipe it down with a damp sponge. This will help restore moisture.
Weekly or at least twice monthly dusting will help to keep wicker looking good and fairly dust-free. To remove surface dust, regularly vacuum it using the soft bristle brush attachment. Use a damp sponge and a little bit of mild detergent mixed with water to remove the stain or spill. After that wipe off with a soft damp cloth.
Periodical care is great, but once a year it's best to do a major cleaning of your wicker furniture. Use a quick splash of water to rinse the piece.
If mildew and mold to appear, remove them using a water and mild bleach cleaning solution. After drying you should not use your furniture for a day or two because when the wicker is wet it could dry in the wrong position if sat on. Once the furniture is completely dry, you can apply a coat of varnish to help protect the furniture.
If the finish on your wicker furniture needs refreshing, it's a good idea to paint it. If the wicker furniture is painted, then it may be a good idea to strip the wicker furniture for refinishing work. Apply a liquid paint stripper to the piece of wicker furniture. Any stripper liquid can be used to soften the wicker. Be sure to scrub off all traces of the stripper using a stiff-bristle brush dipped into detergent and water.
Now you can paint the piece of furniture you wanted to repaint. You can paint wicker furniture to match the décor of any room in your house.
