The Obama Effect
Earth Day is a celebration of our better selves as we live on this planet for people around the world. It brings focus to environmental and humanitarian issues on a very large scale. The Earth Day lesson for 2009 is that it may be the very first Earth Day celebration since 1970 where a majority of Americans are actually aware that it's happening. This eco-holiday went underground for several decades and had a low-key relaunch in the late 1990s, but this year, green is "in" and suddenly everywhere and more people are thinking about their own carbon footprint.
