Billiard Equipment & Supplies

Billiards is a fast growing leisure sport played indoors on a billiards table, with a stick called a "cue".

The basement always seems to be the first place people think of when planning to build out a billiards room in their home, but it doesn't have to be.  How you want your home billiards room is up to you, but be aware that the size of the room will have a major impact on your buildout and dictate several things.

There is a lot of billiard equipment and so many other things that go into making a great pool room in your house and you may want to have all of them and not let anything stand between you and having the kind of fun with your kids and friends that you want.  To get started, you will need a table of course, along with some cue sticks, pool balls, table cover,

chalk and maybe a rack or two.  All that gear can add up to some serious coin, so you will want to buy most of your stuff from one place where you can expect a discount, and perhaps take advantage of wholesale prices.  If you are just getting started with pool, or if you are serious about developing your game then I recommend finding some kind of training aids.

There are books, tapes, DVD's, CDs and a bunch of other things that can make a huge difference in peoples' games.  Even for the very advanced player it is often a good idea to go back and review the basics now and again.

When you are playing a game of pool you want everyone to be as comfortable as they can be, so consider investing in a selection of furniture and bar stools for people to sit on while they are gawking at the game while waiting to take their turn.  There are some comfortable spectator chairs and benches that you can place around the room.  The best ones come with and soft cushions that encourage that desire to hang out feeling.  Don't forget the cabinets for wine and liquor storage.  Also, classy rooms come with full bars and bar stools to belly up to which complete the whole billiards lounge scene.  When you are not playing you will want to use a pool table cover.  These are specially made to stay in place and protect your table form dirt and spills that could severely damage the felt, so don't let that happen.   If you do happen to damage the felt top, there are services that can help you replace the old one.

Pool Table Lighting

Other billiards equipment you will need for sure includes billiards lighting (pool table light) to hang over your pool table and keep it perfectly lit.  Pool table lighting fixtures play an important role in jazzing up your pool table.  Your billiards room will get a new look altogether with a sleek new stained glass pool table light, or pool table tiffany light as they are also known.  Pool table lighting fixtures are available in either traditional or modern styles.  The most common traditional styles under this category include Victorian or Tiffany style pool table light fixtures. These are the classics.

Other design ideas for your walls are soft drink advertising signs such as the classic americana Coca-Cola signs that bring back the days of yesteryear.  There are also old favorites such as vintage baseball player and sports photos, beer signs, even classic cars.  So get going, and have that game room outfitted with the look and you've always dreamed of.
