Fox News On Air Defends Torture Again and Again

William Crystal whose real full-time gig is acting as denizen of a conservative think thank will show up from time-to-time on Television, usually on the Fox Network.  He has recently criticized the current president calling him out on his act of releasing the CIA torture memos, describing it as "pathetic".

Fox News hosts and personalities attack Obama for releasing the memos while defending torture. "It's not a dark chapter in our history. It's a successful one," Charles Krauthammer proclaimed.  Conceding that waterboarding is torture, Krauthammer said that it should be used anyway in the so-called "ticking time-bomb" scenario and against "high-level al-Qaeda."  As you can see many of his Fox colleagues just pile on:

Other Fox employees describe the decision to use torture on detainees thusly:

" You don't go into these techniques just willie nilly. "

With the likes of these folks defending you on TV, the people in the previous administration that thought torture was a good idea now have plenty to worry about.

The Real Truth

An interrogator who "worked" on the detainee known as Abu Musab al-Zarqawi told the press:

"It's no exaggeration to say that at least half of our losses and casualties in that country have come at the hands of foreigners who joined the fray because of our program of detainee abuse. The number of U.S. soldiers who have died because of our torture policy will never be definitively known, but it is fair to say that it is close to the number of lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001."
