Andy's thread- Don Smith Device
#1
I am starting this thread to share some informations about my thoughts and experiments  that could be useful for others.

Just now I read info from Vladimir Utkin, which can be downloaded for example from here
https://pdfcoffee.com/vladimir-utkin-pdf-free.html

Actually I try to simulate this circuit (page 4 in pdf)

I am using falstad simulator

Here is the simulated circuit
https://tinyurl.com/ys2v8rut

Simulation is made by switching main switch - always to max charge of the capacitor until other switching position.
You have two 5 volt batteries and you can charge the capacitor to large volume.

It is interesting for me.

Spark Exciting Generator

Simulation in falstad
https://tinyurl.com/yth73x4v
Two examples - the left one has common grounding like in Utkin, the right one has standalon groundings.
Instead of excitation spark gap there is a coil and diode.
Instead of output spark gap is switch. If pressed in correct intervals, then trumpet wave occurs on capacitor.
Capacitor in charged into much higher value then source voltage is.
Instead of transformer there is only coil (can be replaced by asynchronous transformer)

Is this Don Smith Effect? (but upside down)

Some similarity to Utkin's chart (page 33 in pdf).
Switching must be in correct time (in synchronisation with input frequency)
Yellow trace is current, green is voltage.
There is a jump up in the yellow trace

Analogy with Don Smith circuits?

And another Smith's circuits

Don Smith's Diode

I found confirmation of Don Smith's words:
"the equivalent circuit of a diode is, basically, a capacitor with a resistor shunt on it."
It is in his circuit drawings "Earth Electrical System II". See images and descriptions.

Video where Don Smith speaks about this diode

Varactor is a diode:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varicap

"In electronics, a varicap diode, varactor diode, variable capacitance diode, variable reactance diode or tuning diode is a type of diode"

The trumpet wave is very interesting..  it is ringing but increasing intensity as it rings out.  I have heard it said that if it were uninterrupted, it would continue ringing up and gaining as it goes.

I have not investigated this much- but am watching your thread

I guess that important is the trumpet wave on capacitor (blue circle) and maybe on the coil going to ground (second blue circle).

I think that the connection to output transformer could be on the second blue circle (the coil) or somewhere where the resistor in yellow circle is.
I'm trying to understand how to do this because the normal transformer connected at these places doesn't work.

The capacitor (blue circle #1) is filled up and then discharged to the resistor (yellow circle) - this breaks the trumpet wave and it starts again.
Starting voltage is 50V and charge on capacitor is more than 1kV.

Don Smith's trumpet wave #2 ?

Another example of trumpet wave with circuit which was introduced few posts before
(post #5 in this thread https://www.mooker.com/thread-31-post-348.html#pid348)
Only changed input battery (from post #5) for transformer and rectifier which makes pulsating DC.

Trumpet waves on the capacitor (blue circle #1) and on the coil going to the ground (second blue circle #2).

Coil (blue circle #2) or resistor (yellow circle) is where Don Smith may have his inverter circuit.
