Why is Smith's trumpet wave growing exponentially and my not?
I think one reason is that I measured it on charging capacitor - and charging only by voltage from pulsating source.

And now I found something simmilar in Bennet's doubler tested by Antonio Queiroz

In one document Mr. Queiroz states:
"The amplification factor also increases with time because of the nonlinear diode capacitances".
Maybe this is important factor for exponentially trumpet wave - nonlinear capacitance?
