You cannot change the Polarity on any car.  Early English cars were positive ground. Then along came planned obsolescence and the Asleeple never knew why.

Would this enhance combustion?
Only if you have a leaky carby then the whole thing might combust.

Basically the Point of what you do when handling any electrical leads is connect the Negative first and disconnect the Negative last.

As the Universe is a Dual or Two Force Universe, Everything has a Polarity. When adding Vibrations to any object, this Negative On First connects it to the Aetheric Energy Grid. Even a pipe comes out of the furnace North Pole first. This goes a long way to making a Unified Field.
